USA took a while to get their feet under them and despite a great performance for Canadian keeper Rowan Harris it was the heroics of Taylor West that eventually gave USA the go-ahead goal to finish with a 2-1 win for the bronze medal. Canada proved a worthy opponent in both match ups having tied USA 1-1 in pool play, while the teams are 11 ranking spots apart. More

Argentina won their fifth Pan American Cup this afternoon as they beat Chile 4-1 in the final game of the tournament that took place in Lancaster, United States. Las Leonas started pushing the game in the third period of the match and in five minutes they scored the goals that allowed them to beat chile and stay with the 2017 championship. More

In celebration of the 2017 Women's Pan American Cup, in Lancaster, Philafieldhockey.com has partnered with USA Field Hockey and the Pan American Hockey Federation for the Young Journalist Program – an initiative to foster aspiring sports journalists’ passion for writing and field hockey. Interested players submitted information for the opportunity; two players -- Sydney Lippe of Sparks, Md. and Josie Ashton of Chatam, N.J. -- were selected based on the merit of their submissions. Following a tough semi-final shootout loss, USA re-grouped well and beat Trinidad and Tobago 3-0 on the final day of the men’s competition to ultimately earn bronze and their second-ever medal at the Pan American Cup. The last time USA medaled was in 2009 when they finished second to Canada, while they finished fourth in 2013 and were not in medal games in the 2000 or 2004 editions. More

Argentina successfully defended their 2013 Pan American Cup title with a 2-0 victory over Canada. The victory marks the third title for the World No. 1 Los Leones, while this is the fourth time Canada, ranked 11th, has finished second at this event. Floris van Son’s final shoot out strike booked Canada a spot in the Pan American Cup final following a 4-3 shootout victory over USA. Canada’s Gordie Johnston and USA’s Paul Singh each scored on a penalty corners in regular time, while Canadian keeper Dave Carter made two saves in the shoot out victory. More

Argentina ratified the favoritism with which it arrived at Lancaster and this afternoon became the first finalist of the Pan American Cup with a surpassing 8-1 against Trinidad and Tobago. The final step up to revalidate the title, already won in 2004 and 2013, will be Sunday at 17:45, when they face the winner of the second semifinal of the day, between Canada and the United States.
