Las Celestes came out at full strength but Las Diablas wiped them out
Anxiety and tension filled the stadium at Manquehue Club by the end of Day 5, with a match 
that would decide which team would qualify for the 2015 Pan American Games to be held in 
Toronto, Canada. Chile and Uruguay were tied in points, which made this a special match. 
Chile women’s national team dominated first half, constantly attacking in the opponent’s side. 
Thus, they had multiple opportunities to score, and four of them were effective. On the other 
hand, Uruguay could only reach the opponent´s area in two opportunities, and could reduce 
the difference in the scoreboard two minutes before the end of the first half; the goal came 
from a penalty corner. The first half ended with a 4-1 score in favor of Chile. 
Second half was slightly different. Uruguay returned from break with a more concentrated 
team but the goal difference was such that they were unable to change the result. Chile scored 
another goal and sealed their victory in the 57th
Chile qualified for the Pan American Games and has the chance to confront Argentina in the 
gold-medal match on Sunday 16th at 6:15 pm (local time -3GMT) at Manquehue Club. On the
other hand, Uruguay will face Brazil in the bronze-medal match at 1:45 pm (local time-3GMT).
