Panamá vs Guatemala: 4 - 1 (3 - 1)

In the last day of the Central American Indoor Championship in San Jose, Costa Rica, Panama and Guatemala’s women teams played. Panama clearly leaded the tournament and was effective in their search for a win. Costa Rica and Guatemala made their international presentation. 

Panama played at their pace in the last day of the women’s competition in the Central American Indoor Championship. Celina Portugal was the first to score from a penalty corner in minute 2nd of the game, giving the lead to Panama 1-0. Guatemala quickly recovered and in minute 5th achieved a draw thru their Captain, Caroline Serrano Valenzuela.

Panama kept the control of the ball and scored again. In minute 8th a field goal by Cristina Murillo and in minute 19th Panama’s Captain, Kersthy Montenegro put their team 3-1 over Guatemala at the end of the first half.

Panamanians continued with the possession in the second period. Guatemala had a few chances but was not able to capitalize. In minute 30th Kersthy Montenegro scored her second in the game, sealing the victory 4-1 for Panama.


Guatemala vs Costa Rica: 2 - 1 (1 - 1)

In the last game of the women’s competition Guatemala with only one win met Las Ticas, that were still looking for a victory; both, make their international presentation at this tournament.

Costa Rica came to the pitch looking for their first win in the tournament and scored their first goal in the minute 5th thru their Captain Maria Solano Zúñiga. An even match with players running from one end to the other, with many opportunities in the area that neither capitalized. Costa Rica Goal Keeper was cheered by the fans that supported the team thru the entire match. In minute 17 Guatemala was able to balance the game thru Lisbet Matias Gabriel. Teams went to the half time with the score in 1-1.   

The second half was similar to the first, both teams running into their rivals area but unable to capitalize. In minute 26 Guatemala’s captain scored from a penalty corner giving the victory to the team and the second place in the tournament.
