Argentina vs. Chile

On the third day of the Odesur Competition, on the women's side, Chile faced off against Argentina and Paraguay took on Uruguay.

In the first match, the Argentines imposed their dominance and beat their Chilean peers by 4 to 1. Following that, the Uruguayans took a victory over the home team by 6-0.

With only one more match day in the fixture, the teams await the results from the remaining matches to define the upcoming matchups.

 

ARGENTINA 4 – CHILE 1 (women)

In an unexpected start for the “Leonas”, Chile scored first and took an early lead in the first quarter. However, their advantage did not last long as Argentina went up on the scoresheet 1-1 after taking full advantage of their third penalty corner.

In the second period, the team led by Fernando Ferrara managed to go up 2-1, with a goal from a set piece. In the third quarter, they would increase their margin and end with a final score of 4 to 1.

In the end, Chile could not take advantage of the corners and Argentina was just more effective in their offensive opportunities.

The Argentine goals were scored by María Forcherio, Delfina Thome, Catalina Andrade and Sofía Cairo (who celebrated her 20th birthday today). On the side of the “Diablas”, Manuela Urroz was the sole scorer.

The next game for the “Leonas” will be against Peru on October 10 at 7:00 p.m. The “Diablas” will face off against Uruguay on the same day at 5:00 p.m.

 

URUGUAY 6 – PARAGUAY 0 (women)

The “Cimarronas” defeated Paraguay 6-0 to close the third day of the women's competition at Odesur 2022.

Although Uruguay wasn’t very effective in the set pieces in the first quarter, they managed to prevail against Paraguay. Uruguay kept its defense tight up until the third period, which allowed them to increase the score to 3-0.

In the end, the Uruguayan squad closed the game with six goals.

The goals were scored by: Constanza Barrandeguy x 2, Teresa Viana x 2, Sol Amadeo and Manuela Vilar.

Paraguayan player, Carolina Cacace, celebrated her 50th match, who was able to commemorate this event  by playing in front of her fans to a packed stadium.

The next date for Paraguay will be tomorrow, October 9 at 3:00 p.m., which will see them tested against Peru. Uruguay will play on October 10 against Chile at 5:00 p.m. This final match will be key for determining matchups for the upcoming fixture.
