Peru vs. Argentina

On the second day of men's play at ODESUR 2022, three games took place. Argentina faced off against Peru at first light for group A. Then Chile took on Brazil before giving way to the final game of the day, Bolivia and Paraguay.

On the women's side, Chile and Peru faced off to finish up the first set of women's games.

ARGENTINA 17 – PERU 0 (men)

During the first match of the game, Argentina defeated Peru 17-0, obtaining their second consecutive win.

Demonstrating complete control of the game in the second quarter, the "Leones" showed exceptional ability in the set pieces, turning the majority of their short corners into goals.

During the third and fourth quarters, Peru was able to break through into the Argentine side but was unable to bring any goals to fruition.

The Argentine goals were scored by Lucas Vila x 3, Tobias Martins x 3, Facundo Sarto, Juan Ronconi x 2, Ignacio Ibarra, Nicolas Acosta, Santiago Tarazona, Lautaro Ferrero x 3, Bautista Capurro x 2.

The "Leones" head into the semis with a perfect score, where they will face off against the second place of group B on October 9, at 5 p.m.

 

BRAZIL 0 – CHILE 7 (men)

Chile, in turn, defeated Brazil 7-0 during the second match of the day.

The Transandean team completely dominated their Brazilian counterpart, especially in the last two quarters where they were able to take advantage of most of their opportunities.

Brazil attacked the Chilean goal but was never able to succeed. With no short corners in their favor or any clear offensive breaks into their opponent's area, they finished the game with no goals.

Chile was handed a green card, while Brazil got a green and yellow card during the game.

Chile's goals: Raimundo Valenzuela, Juan Amoroso x 3, Fernando Renz, Axel Richter and Ignacio Contardo.

The next game for the Chilean squad will be against Paraguay on October 7th at 5 p.m., while Brazil will face off against Bolivia the same day at 11:30 a.m.

 

BOLIVIA 0 – PARAGUAY 6 (men)

Closing off the day on the men's side, Bolivia took on the host nation in a very even game.

Both teams were looking to bounce back from defeats, which was reflected in the intensity of the game play throughout the match.

The local team put themselves on the scoreboard quickly with a short corner goal coming a few minutes after the starting whistle. 

Bolivia wasn't able to convert their attacks or set prices into goals throughout the first quarter. It wasn't until the second quarter that the Bolivian team had their closest attempt. 

The host nation extended their score advantage to six goals bringing home a long awaited victory

The goals were scored by : Elias Vera x 4, Junior Rodriguez and Santiago Chamorro.

The next game for Bolivia will be against Brazil on October 7th at 11:30 a.m. and Paraguay will face off against Chile at 5 p.m. 

 

CHILE 16 – PERU 0 (women)

During the last game for the women's group opening round, Chile beat Peru 16-0.

The superiority of the "Diablas" was evident throughout the match, even without being successful in all their set pieces. Had they been able to convert, the score would have been even more lopsided.

The Chilean goals were scored by Kim Jacob, Fernanda Villagran x 4, Josefa Salas x 4, Fernanda Arrieta x 6 and Agustina Solano.

The competition will continue tomorrow with two games. The host nation takes on the "Diablas" at 5 p.m. while Uruguay will face off against Argentina at 7 p.m.
