The second match of the series could define the play-off after Cuba’s victory on the 28^th of October. This decisive profile of the game 2 made the Jamaican team enter the field really focused and with good fighting spirit. Nevertheless, the Cubans were very well positioned and moving the ball better than it was in the first match. That was enough to avoid Jamaica’s possibilities to build attacking plays. Jamaica defense showed concentration and quality, moving along with a tight marking and close shadowing the Cubans forwards. However they were unable to avoid a few penetrations in the circle and conceded a few penalty corners, from which Cuba was able to take the lead and finish the first half one goal ahead.

Jamaica came back for the second half with the strong need to score and keep their chances to qualify for Guadalajara. This was the fuel to make the girls work even harder in the defense against the well organized line of passing from Cuba. Another good performance from Jamaica’s goalkeeper with good saves and a bit of luck when a backhand shot from Cuba hit the bar. Even so, the Cuban pressure in the second half created many penalty corner opportunities and at the 53^rd minute they were able to crack in Jamaica’s defense once again, after a very similar set play as their first goal.

Jamaica did not loose hope and moved to attack right after. Very quickly they got a penalty corner and scored after the goalie rebounds a shot, reducing Cuba’s lead and making the final 10 minutes very exciting and thrilling. The crowd supported and cheered until the horn, but Cuba showed good defensive skills and kept off Jamaica’s final attempts to score. With the result of 2 – 1 Cuba is qualified to the Pan American Games 2011 in Mexico and the 3^rd match will be played on the 31^st of October just to complete the schedule.
