El otro partido del Grupo B de la competencia masculina de los Juegos Panamericanos, se disputó entre Argentina y EE.UU. Ambos equipos lucharon por el dominio durante el primer tiempo, desarrollándose el juego mayormente en el mediocampo. Argentina tuvo algunos tiros, pero no pudo convertir. Alrededor del minuto 22, EEUU se hizo de su primer corner corto del partido, pero no pudo marcar. En el minuto 33, Argentina logró su primer corner corto del partido capitalizado por and Ignacio Ricardo BERGNER que puso a su equipo 1-0 en el primer tiempo.

Los Estados Unidos obtuvieron un número de corners cortos al comienzo del segundo tiempo, pero la defensa argentina impidió que marcaran. Lo mismo pasó con Argentina que tampoco pudo anotar. Luego de una persistente presión en el ataque el argentino Juan Martin LOPEZ agrandó la ventaja y puso a Argentina 2-0 por delante de EEUU, en el minuto 52. Por detrás del fuerte juego de EEUU el portero Tom SHERIDAN impidió que Argentina volviera a anotar y el partido cerró con el 2-0 de argentina sobre EEUU.

I thought the match was driven by two points—a strength and a weakness. First, our strength was that we defended well and did not allow a goal. The weakness was that we were not as effective as we should have been on attack, especially to have eight corners and only convert one. I thought the United States’ Keeper and their defense defended well.

It is always nice to score goals. I am content. I thought it started with our defense and it paid off. We needed to be more effective on our [attacking] penalty corners, but it is okay [we won the game].

It was a pretty good effort. We knew we had to win, but we have to respect our opponent. We knew we had to defend well. But with the persistence and skill of Argentina it wore us down over time and we were not able to take chances.

We wanted to place in the top three, but now we are aiming to come in 5^th place. Fifth place is important and it is our clear objective so that we can qualify to an Olympic Qualifier.
