El partido por el 3er y 4to lugar femenino del Pan Am Challenge 2011 fue entre Brasil y Paraguay respectivamente. Gran cantidad del primer tiempo el juego estuvo en el área de ataque de Brasil. Brasil recibió una cantidad de corners cortos, pero la portera paraguaya Claudia FLORES GUILLEN atajó muchos tiros evitando que Brasil marcara. Paraguay persistió y fue eficiente en el contraataque hacia el final del primer periodo. En el minuto 28 la paraguaya Maria SERVIAN GIOSA puso a Paraguay 1-0 sobre Brasil. Brasil continuó la presión en ataque los minutos finales del primer tiempo, pero no pudo convertir, quedando el marcador en 1-0 a favor de Paraguay antes del descanso.

Ambos equipos salieron al segundo tiempo peleando por la posesión. Paraguay tuvo algunas oportunidades de ataque, pero no pudo capitalizar. Brasil continuó con su presión ofensiva, y finalmente convirtió uno de sus corners cortos. La brasilera Juliana GELBCKE superó a FLORES GUILLEN en el minuto 42 convirtiendo un hermoso gol empatando el partido 1- 1.  En el minuto 58, Brasil tomó la delantera con una jugada de campo que convirtió GELBCKE DE OLIVEIRA. Cuando Paraguay tenía la pelota en ataque Brasil hacía un buen trabajo de defensa evitando que penetraran en su círculo. Brasil volvió a ganar un número de corners cortos, pero tampoco pudo convertir. El resultado final se mantuvo en 2-0 y Brasil obtuvo la victoria sobre Paraguay, asegurándose el tercer lugar y relegando a Paraguay al 4to del Pan Am Challenge femenino 2011.

On the match…

It was a match with two even teams. It had a lot of emotion and intensity by both teams. I am a little sad on the part of Paraguay.

On why he is sad…

We were fighting for third place. We had some bad luck and I thought Paraguay played really hard.

On fourth place…

We are still growing and that is a great thing to see.

On the match…

I thought it was a great match. We came out a bit slow in the first half, but then we began to play our game, especially as we calmed down. We did what we have done in other games and played our hockey and our game; that got us third place. Of course, our objective was to win the tournament. Paraguay always plays with passion and has the same respect for opponents that we do.

On the future..

This was only one tournament. It is not the end, but just the beginning of our story. We will take three weeks rest and then we will continue to train for provincial matches and other tournaments.

On the match and finishing in third place…

I am very happy with the final result. It was very emotional as it always is with Paraguay. We played with lots of passion and heart and third place is very positive for Brazil. It is a great victory for us. It is the first medal from a big Women’s tournament for Brazil. We are very happy and this is of great importance.
