Paraguay intentó atacar a Bermuda. Paraguay intentó lanzarse al contraataque. Melani ARMOA DELGADO tuvo una buena oportunidad de anotar para Paraguay, pero fracasó en la conversión. Bermuda recibió el primer corner corto del partido, pero fue bloqueado por la portera de Paraguay Claudia FLORES GUILLEN. Paraguay no se rindió y continuó tratando de atacar.  Paraguay recibió un corner corto pero no convirtió.  Paraguay persistió en el ataque, pero sin concretar. Bermuda tuvo algunas oportunidades pero también fue incapaz de anotar.  ARMOA DELGADO recibió una tarjeta verde hacia el final del primer tiempo y la primera etapa cerró con el marcador igualado 0-0.

En el segundo tiempo, Paraguay presionó con el ataque, pero la portera de Bermuda, Latonia FREY bloqueó los tiros. Bermuda nuevamente tuvo problemas para terminar sus oportunidades de ataque. Pero Bermuda no se rindió y su defensa se fortaleció para evitar que Paraguay capitalizara su presión ofensiva. Paraguay recuperó la pelota bien y ganó más corners cortos en la segunda mitad. La jugadora de Bermuda Constance FRANCIS recibió una tarjeta amarilla. Poco después las paraguayas Sara RODRIGUEZ JARA y Maria GOMEZ BORDON también recibieron tarjeta amarilla.  Con menos jugadoras Paraguay logró marcar en el minuto 56 a través de su Capitana Maria SERVIAN GIOSA para poner a su equipo en ventaja por 1-0. A pesar de recibir varios corners cortos Paraguay no pudo volver a marcar, pero logró su primer triunfo en el Pan Am Challenge 2011.

There were so many chances for both sides. In the end, Paraguay took [advantage of] a chance and we didn’t [take advantage] of any. That won Paraguay the game. It could have been a high scoring game. It is a very young team where half the team is under 20.

The hardest thing … actually nothing. Just our marking. I think it could have been well defended had I not had to commit too early.

On her tournament experience..

It has taught me a lot of things about international hockey. And about how we have to keep going in a match if we are down by goals or if there is not that much time left. It is the same as in any other tournament, that when you get down you have to get back up.

We are starting to play better and advancing little by little. I thought we played well and against a good team, Bermuda, who has improved. I thought in the second half we played even better and now we are getting ready to play Brazil.

I believe our improvement has been good. However, I thought we played better yesterday against Uruguay. We play well when we do what we can and what we know how to do and I thought we had a good game today.
