December 11, 2009 The Pan American Hockey Federation is pleased to announce its second PAHF Elite Teams. The PAHF Elite Teams are named every two years, with the first ones announced after the 2007 Pan American Games. Hockey specialists involved or present at the 2009 Pan American Cups in Bermuda and Santiago were consulted for the selection of the Elite Teams roster. Additional input was sought from persons present at the FIH events in which PAHF teams participated (such as the Women’s Champions Trophy in Sydney and the Junior World Cups). The Men's Pan American Elite Team 2009 is led by Pan American Cup Player of Tournament Rob SHORT, from Canada. The Pan American Cup winner, Canada is represented by five players: Rob SHORT, Captain Ken PEREIRA, defenders Scott TUPPER and Paul WETLAUFER and Goal-Keeper of the Tournament David CARTER. Pan American Cup runner-up USA are represented by 4 players. Six countries are represented in the Men’s Pan American Elite Team 2009: Argentina (3 players), Canada (5), Chile (3), Mexico (2), Trinidad & Tobago (1) and USA (4). The Women's Pan American Elite Team 2009 is led once again by 6-time WorldHockey Player of the Year Luciana AYMAR, from Argentina. She is joined by five more players from Argentina, winner of the Pan American Cup: Player of the Tournament Carla REBECCHI, Top Goal Scorer Noel BARRIONUEVO, Carla DUPUY, Rosario LUCHETTI and goal-keeper Maria Belen SUCCI. Pan American Cup runner-up USA are represented by 5 players. Six Countries are represented in the Women’s Pan American Elite Team 2009: Argentina (6 Players), Canada (1), Chile (3), Mexico (1), Trinidad & Tobago (2) and USA (5). Four women and four men were already named to the 2007 PAHF Elite Team.
The Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF) is recognized by the FIH as the governing continental federation for all field hockey in the Pan American region. There are 26 member Nations of the PAHF.
