The Pan American Cup began in Santiago, Chile, which will allow three women's teams and two men's teams to win tickets for the World Cup in India (men) and Netherlands / Spain (women).

Women – Canada vs. Peru: 14-0

The first day was started by the women from Canada and Peru, where the Canadian representatives achieved an overwhelming victory by 14-0 over the team led by Patricio Martínez.

The opening of the scoring was during the second quarter of the game by player number 23, Brienne Stairs, who also scored four more goals during the game, in minutes 28', 35, 43' and 59'. And finishing off the 14-0 for the first match of her team.

On field play, a total of three goals were scored by Canada by Jordyn Faiczak and Elise Wong.

After a foul in the area, in the 25' it was the player Alison Lee who made another goal for Canada through a penalty corner.

Meanwhile, the other five goals were through shoot-outs achieved by Canada in the Peruvian area, being scored by: Madison Thompson, Elise Wong, Sara McManus, Amanda Woodcroft and Madeline Secco.

Women: USA vs. Trinidad and Tobago : 16-0
 

With several players who were playing for the TTO team during the Junior Championships at the same venue, the Prince Of Wales Country Club, began their participation in the Cup facing the United States, a game of permanent defense, ended with the score 16-0 in favor of the Americans.

The scoreboard for the Americans did not take long to score, as soon as the match began, Elizabeth Yeager scored the first goal and Symaría scored two more in the 40' and 46' minutes. Later, in the 3', when through a field play, Erin Matson with jersey number 1, would score the first goal - of three during the game - and followed by her in 4', the player Ashely Sessa scored a goal again in the 24'. The first five minutes of the game for the United States reflect what would be an absolutely favorable game on the scoreboard.

Also present at the Pan American Championships, player Hope Rose, wearing jersey 26, scored three more goals for the United States in minutes 8', 30' and 26'. And to continue with the celebrations, Sofía Southam added a goal for the American squad.

During the last quarter and to seal the 16-0 win, it was Lauren Moyer (59'), Danielle Grega (55'), Elizabeth Yeager (46'), Alia Marshall (54') and Hope Rose (57'), who scored goals by penalty corner, penalty stroke and field play against Trinidad and Tobago.

Women - Argentina vs. Uruguay : 6-0

The closing of the first day of the Pan American Cup brought the Tokyo 2021 Olympic runner-up, Las Leonas, who arrived in Santiago with part of the squad that was crowned with the silver medal only months ago at the Olympic Games and who opened their participation playing with the neighboring country, Uruguay.

The scoreboard was opened by Agustina Gorzelany through an excellent penalty corner at minute 2' in the Uruguayan goal that was defended by María Bates from Uruguay - and who was chosen as the best goalkeeper in the Junior Pan American Championship in August 2021 at the PWCC - while the second goal was scored by Micaela Retegui in the 9' minute, through a field play.

Despite the advantage that Argentina always showed and the hard work done in defense by the cimarronas, with 15 seconds to go before halftime, Agustina Albertarrio managed to score 3-0, and his 173rd goal wearing Las Leonas shirt. 

During the last quarter, Las Leonas closed with two more goals. The 5-0 through a deflection by Celina Di Santo and the sixth goal was a flick of Agustina Gorzelany  - her second goal of the match.

The next match for Las Leonas will be against the locals "Las Diablas", a match in which Chile will also debut in the Pan American Cup this Friday at 6:30 pm (Chile local time) at the Prince Of Wales Country Club.
