A rainy and windy day received the teams of Uruguay and Canada at noon this Saturday to play the first game of the Junior Pan American Championship.

The lead during the first two quarters of the game was for the Canadian team, however they failed to capitalize on their attacks and open the scoring.

Uruguay began to find its game in the last two quarters of the match, took control of the ball and had several arrivals at the Canadian goal but could not open the scoring.

"If there is something that we did not lack, it was the attitude" remarked the Uruguayan Captain Jimena Garcia.

Pool A's first match ended 0-0.

The second match at the PWCC was played by the men of Mexico and Canada, who during the first two quarters of the game were very even in terms of play and ball possession, but the Canadian team managed to capitalize on their entrances to goal.

The opening of the scoring was achieved by the Canadian team at 9' with a goal by Sean Davis and then sustain the match with the scoreboard 1-0 until minute 42 ', where Yamil Méndez from Mexico achieved the tie with a penalty corner, in the middle of an intense match.

The difference and advantage of the scoreboard in favor of Canada was made by the player John Jacoby in the 44 'and 53' minutes, thus leaving the score 3-1.

Both teams continue their matches this Sunday from 2:00 p.m. in Chile. The youth of Mexico will face Brazil, while Canada will face the locals.

Los Diablos” kick off Chile's participation with a solid victory.

 Accompanied by fans, with families and people of field hockey who full the stands of the PWCC, the  men’s team from Chile began their participation in the Pan American with a solid 2-0 victory with goals from Benjamin Koster and Andres Pizarro.

 Despite the advantage of Chile during the four quarters of time, Brazil managed to put pressure on the game of "Los Diablos", without being able to make a goal.

 The team led by Alejandro Gómez will face Canada tomorrow on the second day of games hosted by the PWCC.

It should be noted that this tournament is carried out with a strict protocol against COVID19-, both for the teams and the PAHF officials.

The women’s competition will continue this Sunday at noon, when the local team of Chile faces the United States in the first match of Pool B.
