FIH CEO Thierry Weil and World Masters Hockey (WMH) President Sean Curran signed the ground-breaking agreement that will bring all Masters Hockey under a single organization within the global FIH hockey community.
The document was signed on 6th November 2019 at FIH Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, witnessed by WMH Board members Sue Briggs, Glenn Paton and Norman Same.
This achievement is the culmination of many years of negotiations and confirms and implements the decision made by the FIH Executive Board that “the future international strategic direction and growth of Masters Hockey will be most effectively and efficiently delivered through one single constituted and fully inclusive Masters organisation”.
Sean Curran expressed his gratitude to FIH for all the help and support they have offered to the new organisation and confirmed how much the WMH Executive Board is looking forward to becoming an integral part of the FIH community.
He went on to say that, on behalf of hockey players everywhere, he would like to thank all those individuals who had been responsible for developing Masters Hockey to date, for all their hard work and dedication over the years and that WMH would continue to build on the solid foundations they had created.
Plans for the first ever WMH World Cup Event are well under way with tournaments planned for Nottingham, England; Cape Town, South Africa; and Tokyo, Japan.
