On the 4th of July 2017, The Gala Olimpica took place at Santo Domingo Jaragua's Hotel, to honor Don Rafael Sosa.
With a few words from his daughter Carolin Sosa, and with the presence of the Dominican Hockey Federation's current president Don Miguel Hernandez, and PAHF President Alberto "Coco" Budeisky, it was a tribute shared by all of the Dominican hockey community.
