El Salvador - Honduras

Inspired by their people who cheered from the stands from start to end, Guatemala achieved their second victory of the tournament. Notwithstanding the low scoring during the match, they were able to recover, securing the game with a 4-2 win.

Following, a double celebration for El Salvador took place. The men’s national team conducted by Argentinean Coach Caterina Barale beat Panama 4-2. Later, it was the women’s team turn with a 5-0 win over Panama.

“We want to qualify and fight for the bronze with them”, said the Coach.

Just close to midday, Panama women’s team defeated Costa Rica.

“Despite trailing 1-0, we were able to focus and win”, said Panamanian scorer Kersthy Montenegro, at the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional today.

A rerun of last year men’s competition final in Costa Rica took place in this tournament as Costa Rica met Panama today. With an identical scoring, this was the closing match of the pool. Guatemala won 4-1.

El Salvador, looking for a place in the podium, defeated Honduras 7-1, and settled in a comfortable position bellow Guatemala, although both teams will play tomorrow to define the first place in the standings.

Recalling last year final in the women’s competition, Guatemala and Panama had unfinished business.

“We lost against them last year, we wanted to show that we had trained and could change the story”, said Sandra Sis Sis from Guatemala, and responsible for the only goal of the match that led her team to the victory.
