A course for the appointed umpires of the II Central American Indoor Tournament started yesterday.

The umpires who will be responsible to conduct the 24 upcoming matches starting tomorrow through Sunday attended the course, under the guidance of Soledad Iparraguirre.

“We are instructing them and trying to motivate them to carry on umpiring. Some had a previous participation in last year’s tournament in Costa Rica, but some will be umpiring for their first time in this tournament.”

“The outcome of the course is highly positive, as everybody showed a good attitude. Some of the participants will officiate in the matches starting tomorrow and along the three days of the Tournament. Other attendees were players or technical officials who came only to learn, even travelling 18 hours by bus to get here,” said Soledad Iparraguirre.

Partcipants who attended the course are Mercedes Selles Bryan from Panamá, Katherine Barrera Gutiérrez from Guatemala, Josela Picado from Costa Rica, Johana Lagos from Honduras, Marcial Nuñez, from Panamá, Luis Cardona from Guatemala, Andrey Umaña from Costa Rica, Wilfredo Hernández Casco from El Salvador and Héctor Zepeda from Honduras.

Appointed as Neutral Umpire, International Indoor Hockey Umpire Melina Illanes, born in the Province of San Juan, Argentina, accompanied Soledad with the course and contributed with her broad experience and insight in International Tournaments and last World Cup in Europe.
