At the 2010 FIH Congress, Tony von Ondarza (VEN), President of the Pan American Hockey Federation and FIH Vice President, was made a Member of Honour of the FIH.
FIH President Leandro Negre presented the award in recognition of Tony’s outstanding services to hockey at National, Continental and FIH level over many years. Tony began his career in the FIH in 1981 as a member of the Youth Committee and has been a Vice President since 1988. In 2010, he was awarded the SportAccord Spirit of Sport Award for his contribution to hockey and to sport in general.
Within the FIH, the honour of becoming an Honorary Member is restricted to persons who have served on the Council.
Tony von Ondarza has been the President of PAHF since 1987.
