Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF)

The PAHF concluded 2014 with the successful Planning and Board meetings in Miami. The three intensive days involved the participation and efforts from 17 people, amongst committee chairs, board members and staff.

The yearly Planning meeting serves as a face-to-face opportunity to review results, analyze performance and plan to improve the PAHF in alignment with the strategic priorities as set by the FIH. For the 2015-2016 period, there are three main areas of focus, as directed by the FIH Hockey Revolution Congress held in early November 2014 in Marrakech:

1- Events and Competition;
2- Marketing and Communications;
3- Administration and Governance.

Some of the important items discussed were:

- New statutes will be submitted for approval, fully aligned with the FIH, preparing the PAHF to benchmark the way for full cooperation with the 10-year strategy defined by FIH. In the new statutes proposal, there is a change to the Composition of the Board by including athlete representation and the elimination of the Honorary Secretary General position (replaced by the managing director). The elections for ordinary members of the Board will also be one of the high points of the event in Toronto. The PAHF will release the general information and call for nominations in the near future.

- The proposal to change the current membership fees, to align with the FIH, based on world rankings instead of number of players. The proposal will be submitted to the next Congress for approval.

- The structure of PAHF committees after the next Congress will be changed so that PAHF plans can be most efficiently and professionally executed.

- The election of athletes by the athletes for the PAHF Athletes Committee will be held during the Pan Am Games 2015. The Board approved the Terms of Reference for the Athletes Committee and the athletes Elections Procedure. The PAHF will soon release specific information and call for nominations, according to the documents approved.

With the conclusion of the meetings, there is the expectation of a great 2015, in preparation for the 2016 Olympics that will take place in the Americas.
