The Trinidad and Tobago Hockey Board (TTHB) proudly reports that at the recent 44th International Hockey Federation’s (FIH) Congress, held from October 29th to November 2nd in Marrakesh, Morocco, former President of the TTHB, Mrs Maureen Craig Rousseau was elected to the Executive Board of the FIH as an Ordinary Member, securing one of the two positions available for new female members on the Board.

The Congress was titled the ‘Hockey Revolution Congress’ and the FIH revealed its new ten year strategy set to deliver a global sport, inspiring the next generation. The FIH laid out its goals for the next ten years for hockey based around entertainment, professionalism, image and following.

Mrs Craig Rousseau’s vast experience as an administrator has been gained from exposure over the last 30 years where she has served the sport in the following roles:

  • Director & Vice-President for (PAHF), with responsibility for the Caribbean over the past 12 years to date
    - Ensuring the implementation of the PAHF strategic objectives and by extension FIH
    - Guiding the Caribbean NA in administration and management of the sport
  • Former Member of the PAHF Competitions Committee
  • FIH and PAHF -Tournament Director/Technical Official over the past 25 years to date
    - Officiated at several FIH and PAHF events
  • Certified Sport Administrator by the International Olympic Committee in Sport Administration and management –Port of Spain Trinidad
  • Participant- Sport Management Seminar for women organised by the AISTS ( International Academy of Sports Science and Technology) IOC supported - Switzerland
    - Trained in sport management, budgeting, project management, presentation skills
  • Representative for Hockey at Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee council meetings and forums 1993 -1996 and 2002- 2007
  • Past President of Trinidad and Tobago Hockey Board (TTHB) 2002-2007

ACHIEVEMENTS:

  • Hockey twice captured best administration of all Trinidad and Tobago sporting organizations
  • A government sponsored development program for schools was negotiated
  • The Trinidad and Tobago National teams qualified for the Indoor World cup and improved their outdoor ranking
  • Hockey was professionally operationalized with a fully equipped office and paid staff
  • Past Vice President of Trinidad and Tobago Women’s Hockey Association 1995- 1998
    • Successfully hosted the 9th FIH Women World Cup Qualifier 1997
    • Past Member of Organization Committee TTHB for –
      • Junior Men’s World Cup Qualifier Trinidad 2008
      • World League Round 1 Trinidad 2012
    • Facilitator for training of Trinidad and Tobago Hockey Board’s Technical Officials over the past 15 years to date
    • Manager of National Women’s team- Commonwealth Games – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – 1998
    • Represented the Trinidad Olympic Committee at the Women Conference – Switzerland
  • Member of Trinidad and Tobago Hockey Board – International Relations Committee 2009 to present
