Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico and Barbados Men and Cuba, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Trinidad Tobago Women have all qualified for the semi-finals of the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games.

In the Men’s competition, Cuba beat Dominican Republic 6-1 in their final Pool A match to top the table with 9 points. Yoandy BLANCO gave Cuba a 1-0 lead in the 4th minute and they added two more in the last five minutes of the half when Adrian MOLINA and Captain Alexander ABREU added a goal each. They extended their 3-0 halftime lead with Roger AUGUILERA adding two goals and Nelson GINORIO VEGA added another one.  Jeffrey MONCION scored a consolation goal for Dominican Republic. Dominican Republic finished 3rd in the table with 3 points.

In the other Pool A match Trinidad and Tobago trounced Guatemala 11-0 and ended their pool play on 6 points. Marcus JAMES led his team in the scoring department with a well taken hatrick, while Kiel MURRAY, Akim TOUSSAINT and Tariq MARCANO each scored two goals. Jordan REYNOS and Dillet GILKES rounded out the scoring with a goal each. Guatemala ended their pool matches on 0 points.

In Pool B, Barbados came from a goal behind to secure a 3-1 victory over Jamaica to join pool winners Mexico in the semi-final round. Jamaica’s Brian BRODBER scored the first goal but Barbados scored three unanswered goals with Aaron FORDE, Laurando DAVIS and Akeem RUDDER getting a goal each. Jamaica finished at the bottom of the table with 0 points.

In Women’s action a 0-0 draw with Guyana was enough for Trinidad and Tobago to make it to the semi-finals as the 2nd place finishers in Pool B with 5 points. Trinidad created the better scoring chances but could not get past a very well organized Guyana team, who ended their pool matches in 3rd place with 4 points. Dominican Republic topped the table with 7 points while Bermuda ended in last place with 0 points.

In Pool A, Cuba and Mexico played to a 2-2 draw with Maria CORREA and Karen OROZCO scoring for Mexico and Helec CARTA and Yunia MILANES scoring for Cuba. Cuba topped the Pool with Mexico in second place. Barbados finished in 3rd position with 3 points and Jamaica ended in last place with 0 points.

The 5-8 matches and semi-finals for the women will be played on 21 November 2014 while the Men’s 5-7 and semi-final matches will be played on November 22.
