Dominican Republic beat Bermuda 5-0 in the second round of the Women’s Pool B matches of the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games to remain at the top of the table with 6 points.

Dominican Republic had a comfortable 4-0 lead at the end of the first half with Agustina BIROCHO registering 2 goals in the 9th and 32nd minute. Bermuda worked very hard in defense but found it difficult to get their attack going. Dominican Republic’s Albania MARTE and Benifer MORONTA added 2 more goals with the latter scoring from a penalty corner at the last whistle of the first half.

Both teams had to battle very strong winds during the second half. Dominican Republic scored their 5th goal when Lucia NAVAMUEL converted a penalty corner in the 44th minute. Bermuda improved their overall play in the second half and were unfortunate not able to capitalize when Dominican Republic went down to 9 players in the final minutes of the match.  Bermuda who are winless so far are at the bottom of the table.

Due to the adverse weather conditions, the decision was taken to suspended play for the remainder of the day.
