Every athlete wants a level playing field and an opportunity to compete in a fair and just environment. The World Anti-Doping Agency does its part with a focus on achieving drug free sport. In their attempts to find those looking to bend the rules to their advantage it had become increasingly difficult for athletes to understand what they are able or unable to put in their bodies.

While many athletes will already be aware that they must compete under the WADA rules, not all may be aware of what those rules are. They take shape in many variations to create a code. This code is a framework for all anti-doping systems and was been put in place in 2004. It continues to be developed to give athletes a greater opportunity to compete in fairness.

WADA has created a document that will act as a guide for athletes to use so that they can gain a better understanding of the anti-doping code for 2015. The terminology is straight forward and while the guide is not a replacement for the code, it does give athletes the opportunity to be better equipped in knowing what their roles and responsibilities are in terms of anti-doping.

It is a step forward for athletes in understanding what processes they are part of and in turn to cleaner sport.
