In 350 days, Toronto, Canada will host the 2015 Pan American Games or the 17th Pan American Games since it was first held in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1951. The Pan American Games are organized under PASO-the Pan American Sports Organization. Two weeks ago there were two full days of commemorative events in Toronto, including a wide variety of musical and athletic performances, to mark the one-year countdown to the games that can be read about here.

During the last Pan Am Games in 2011 in Guadalajara, Mexico on the women’s side the United States won a historical match over Argentina that marked the first time the Argentinean women had been beaten in a continental competition. While Chile finished in third and upcoming host Canada finished in fourth. On the men’s side, Argentina came in first and host Canada second, with the Chilean men also third. In nearly a year we look forward to seeing who will emerge as the Pan Am Games winners from 16 teams (8 womens and 8 mens).
