Argentina’s defense blocked the plays to keep the score tied 1-1. Canada then earned another penalty corner that resulted in a penalty stroke opportunity for Canada. The United States earned a few penalty corners midway through the match, but the shots were blocked by Uruguay’s defense. United States kept up their attack and Amanda Fleischut scored in the 12th minute to give the United States a 1-0 lead. Uruguay then earned a series of penalty corners, but the United States defense blocked the shots. With either team unable to score in the end of the first half, the halftime score remained 1-0 in favor of the United States. With the start of the second half, Uruguay came out fast on attack and Agustina Nieto’s penalty corner goal tied the match in the 23rd minute. Both teams continued to battle for possession in the second half. The United States held off a series of Uruguay penalty corners midway in the second half to keep the match tied 1-1.
