In the first match on Day three of the 2014 Women’s Indoor Pan American Cup, Argentina and the United States played.  For much of the first half, both teams battled for possession in the midfield. Seven minutes into the match Argentina received the first penalty corner of the match. A United States player broke early and was sent to the half line, but Argentina could not capitalize. Soon after, Argentina was awarded another penalty corner, but was unable to execute the play. Juliana Rios Ferreyra scored the first goal of the match in the 12th minute to give Argentina a 1-0 lead over the United States. The United States immediately tied the match when Amanda Fleischut scored off a penalty corner three minutes later. Both teams kept each other from scoring another goal for the rest of the half and the match remained tied 1-1 at halftime.

Argentina’s Captain Emma Yanzi scored in the first minute of the second half to give Argentina a 2-1 lead over United States. Soon after, United States had a good opportunity to tie the match, but the shot hit the goal post. Play continued in Argentina’s attacking half for the majority of the second half. Yanzi scored her second goal of the match off a penalty corner in the 38th minute to give Argentina a two goal lead over the United States. With Argentina continuing their strong attacking pressure and the United States unable to counter, the final score remained Argentina, 3 United States, 1.

In the second match on Day three, host Uruguay and Canada played. Isabel Olaso scored in front of a full loud crowd in the 2nd minute to give Uruguay the early 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, Olaso scored again to put Uruguay ahead over Canada by two goals. Canada then earned the first penalty corner of the match, but Uruguay played strong defense to break up the play. Uruguay continued their constant scoring off a penalty corner by Carolina Mutilva in the 12th minute. Towards the end of the first half, Canada earned a couple penalty corners, but was unable to capitalize. Thus, the halftime score remained 3-0 in favor of Uruguay. In the opening minutes of the second half, Canada’s Kaelan Watson earned a yellow card. While Uruguay was unable to convert the immediate penalty corner, Olaso converted a penalty stroke for her third goal of the match and to give Uruguay a four goal lead in the in the 23rd minute. Following  three yellow cards, one to Canada’s Amanda Woodcroft, one to Uruguay’s Agustina Nieto, and Uruguay’s Lucia Lamberti, Canada did not let up. Canada’s Alison Lee scored off a penalty to cut Uruguay’s lead in the 29th minute. Nieto earned another yellow card and Multiva earned a yellow card as well. Canada’s Watson capitalized in the 46th minute to make the score 4-2 in favor of Uruguay. Canada then earned a penalty corner, but the shot went wide. With Canada holding off last minute Uruguay attack, host Uruguay came away with an exciting 4-2 win over Canada.
