In the first match on Day two of the 2014 Women’s Indoor Pan American Cup, Canada and the United States played.  For much of the first half, Canada dominated possession and play was mostly down in Canada’s attacking half. The United States earned the first penalty corner of the match, however, but the shot went just wide of the goal cage. Throughout the first half, Canada continued to have most of the possession, but the United States defense prevented them from taking many shots. Towards the end of the first half, a penalty corner shot was blocked by United States keeper Maria Keesling. Thus, the match between Canada and the United States remained scoreless at halftime.

In the opening minute of the second half, Canada earned a penalty corner, but the shot went wide. The United States then earned a penalty corner and Canada’s keeper Kathryn Williams came up with the big save to keep the match scoreless. Then it was the Keesling with a big penalty corner save to keep the match scoreless.  Throughout the second half, possession was much more even between the teams and both teams fought for possession. The United States Kimberlly Tunell received a yellow card in the 34th minute, and Canada pressured more on attacked. With a couple minutes remaining, Canada earned another penalty corner, but the United States defense broke up the play. Thus, the match ended scoreless, 0-0.

In the second women’s match on Day two of the 2014 Women’s Indoor Pan American Cup, host Uruguay and Argentina played. Host Uruguay came out strong and earned the first penalty corner of the match. Agustina Nieto scored the penalty corner as Uruguay took the early 1-0 lead in front of a roaring crowd. Both teams continued to battle for possession with play mostly in Argentina’s attacking half. However, just like the match started the match ended with a Uruguay goal in the final minute by Lucia Lamberti after she rushed down fast on attack. Thus, host Uruguay had a 2-0 lead over Argentina at halftime. Uruguay started the second half just as they finished the first half. Isabel Olaso scored two minutes into the second half to make it a 3-0 score. Uruguay nearly scored another a minute later, but the play was saved by Argentina’s defense. Olaso then scored a beautiful lifted penalty corner in the 29th minute to give Uruguay a four goal lead. For the rest of the match, Argentina played tight defense and prevented Uruguay from scoring another goal. Host Uruguay came away with the 4-0 win over Argentina.
