Semi finals were played in the morning. Argentina gained their ticket to Naijing by beating Mexico 12-1.
Later, Uruguay would fight a spot in the Olympics with USA. After two loses against the Americans, the host came out to win, with an outstanding performance and two early goals that made Tamara Durante’s team lose concentration. USA would not recover, and fought a concentrated, strong team that had decided to qualify.
Uruguay won 3 - 1 and a ticket to the Olympic Games.
In the afternoon, USA won the Bronze by beating Mexico 9-1.
In the final match Uruguay was able to stop Argentina, during the first period. But, Santiago Capurro’s team showed their supremacy and physical power when they opened the score in the second period. The game ended 4-0 in favor of Argentina closing the Hockey 5s competition at the Pan American Youth Championship held at the Carrasco Polo Club, in Montevideo, Uruguay.
The Awards were for Julianna Tornetta (USA), the Player of the Tournament. Michelle Ugalde (MEX), GK of the Tournament and Austin Cuneo (USA) Top Scorer.
USA was awarded for their Fair Play.
