The Federal Senator for the Province of Buenos Aires, Dr. Aníbal Fernández won Saturday’s presidential elections, held in the context of the annual ordinary General Assembly of the Argentinean Hockey Confederation, with a unanimous vote and will hold the highest office until 2017. Sandra Isola from Salta, who is also an FIH Executive Board Member, was elected first Vice-President.
Fernández was quoted as saying “We face the need to make a serious transformation happen in Argentinean hockey. And we will give our all because we are convinced of what we are trying to do,” after his election.
During the Assembly, in which 30 of the 31 entities which are currently actively affiliated to the Argentinean Confederation were represented, the previous President of the CAH, Dr. Daniel Marcellini presented his irrefutable resignation and retreated from the room together with his supporters at the start of the elections. Faced with this scenario, the delegates present continued the Assembly under the transitory presidency of until-then Treasurer Sandra Isola, and unanimously elected Aníbal Fernández.
The electoral proceedings were monitored by observers of the General Inspection of Justice, as well as clerks and lawyers of the Argentinean Confederation of Hockey.
