Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF)

The Pan American Hockey Federation is looking for young hockey enthusiasts who speaks fluent Spanish and would enjoy a uniquely interesting and challenging internship.   The proposed dates for this project are April through May, 2013  (actual dates to be determined).

In 2013 the Pan American Hockey Federation will launch the Central American Development Project 2013 (CADP).  The project is designed to help strengthen the new hockey nations through ‘on the ground’ assistance to include strengthening the administration, developing players, coach, and umpires and starting local competition.   Pan American Federation will support a team of hockey experts who speak fluently Spanish and have the time to dedicate to this extended project.   The project length is 2 to 3 month and will include the countries of Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica and Panama. 

Scope of CADP

  • Promote action to recruit and train hockey personnel to the tasks of coaches, umpires, team managers and administrators.
  • To help build relationships with the sport authorities within the country
  • To help build the indoor game
  • To assist in the development of a strategic plan
  • To assist in promoting the development of the indoor game
  • To promote local tournaments
  • To investigate pitch development for both indoor and outdoor. With official size goals.
  • To promote an administrative structure
  • To show the support of the Pan American Hockey Federation as it relates to actively assist in developing the sport in new nation

Internship Qualities

  • A hockey enthusiast who passionately desires to assist in the develop of hockey is the Central America
  • Seeks a uniquely different type of sports internship to assist in professional growth
  • Must speak fluent Spanish
  • Must have a solid understanding of hockey as a player, coach and umpire.
  • Must be willing to help develop all areas of the game including players, coaches, umpires and administrators.
  • Effective organizational and planning skills necessary
  • Be able to present yourself as a young professional and representative of the Pan American Hockey Federation.
  • Strong work ethic and accountability
  • Proficient with social media and computer skills
  • Must be over the age of 18.

 

The Pan American Federation provides each internship one time return travel to Central American and internal travel as it relates to the project.  Housing and a small stipend will be offered to assist with out of pocket expenses.  It is the intent of the project to have each National Association help with housing and meals.
