The Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF) held its annual Planning Meeting in Guatemala on December 7 and 8.
In attendance were President Antonio von Ondarza, General Secretary Aaron Sher, Treasurer Derek Sandison, Committee Chairpersons Alberto Budeisky (Appointments and Competitions), Laura Darling (Hockey Development Council), Yan Huckendubler (Media & Communications), Dr. Leticia Ramírez Ceballos (Medical), Roger St. Rose (Umpiring) and PAHF Operations Manager Laura Macchiotti.
The Action Plans of each committee were reviewed, included in the overall PAHF Operations Plan and allocated a provisional budget if necessary.
The calendar of PAHF activities (competitions, seminars and meetings) was finalized for the coming two years.
The weekend was hosted by the Hockey Association of Guatemala (Asociación Deportiva Nacional de Hockey de Guatemala) and its very active President Pablo Reyes Villatoro. He organized work meetings with officials of the Sports Confederation (Confederación Deportiva Autónoma de Guatemala - CDAG) and of the National Olympic Committee to present, with the support of PAHF, his project for a new pitch in Guatemala City, which would be an invaluable asset for the development of hockey in Central America.
The Asociación Deportiva Nacional de Hockey de Guatemala is a young association (created in 2006). They have been very active developing hockey in their country, their men’s junior team participated in the recent Pan American Junior Championship in Guadalajara and their senior team played in the World League Round 1 in Trinidad & Tobago, collecting their first World Ranking points. President Pablo Reyes and his Board have a very action plan for the years to come.
