Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF)

The Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF) Board of Directors and all committees held successful meetings during the Pan American Junior Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico. 

Mr. Leandro Negre, FIH President was present at the tournament and addressed the PAHF Board and attended the tournament.   The Board received reports and proposals from the PAHF Committees.  The PAHF strategic plan 2012-2014 was reviewed and the operations plan was updated to reflect present status.

Some major approvals were:

  • The qualification system for the 2015 Pan American Games will be the same that was used in 2011.
  • The PAHF Junior Championships will be open to all National Associations in 2016. Starting in 2020 the event will be limited to 8 men and 8 women’s teams.  The establishment of a PAHF Junior Challenge event in 2018 will be part of the qualifying process for 2020.
  • A deposits and withdrawals policy for events was adopted.
  • The Board discussed the cancelation of the PAHF Indoor Tournament in Chile and cancelation of events in general.  The new Deposits and Withdrawals policy as approved will help to avoid cancelations in the future.
  • The Board will be reviewing the possibility of having athletes’ representative on the PAHF Board and also some committees.

The next Pan American Meetings are:

  • PAHF informal gathering at FIH Congress in November in Malaysia
  • PAHF Planning Meeting on December 7-8 in Guatemala.
  • PAHF meetings and Congress – September 2013 in Mendoza, Argentina during the Pan American Cup (w)

PAHF events for upcoming years were reviewed and recommendations made for hosting agreements to be negotiated.  There will be a request for bids sent for some events that have not yet been finalized.
