1 | Pool A | 4:00pm | JAM - CUB | 0 - 3 (0 - 0) | Final |
After a very nice opening ceremony with the presence of Jamaican Sports Ministry, Cuban Ambassador and authorities from the Jamaican Hockey Federation, the game started with the Cuban Team showing good fitness and defending well against Jamaica on their own field. The pressure reduced spaces for Jamaica to be able to build plays from their half.
On the other hand, when Cuba had the ball, they looked a bit tense and couldn’t manage to get an effective line of passing. Umpires showed a few cards in order to avoid physical marking and bad tackles. Jamaica defense was solid and the keeper was able to keep off a few Cuban shots very well.
Second half started with a hard pressure from Cuba, who took the lead immediately in the 36th minute and scored again right after in the 38th, with two good penetrations in the Jamaican circle.
Good positioning and strong defensive blocks made it hard for Jamaica to change the perspective of the match. Cuban players were calmer and passed the ball controlling the game with an efficient line of passing players in the middle and good movement from the forwards. They scored again at the 57th minute closing the game with the final score of 3 - 0.
