Jamaica earned 7th place at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games (Women) when they beat Bermuda 2-0, courtesy of goals scored by Trudy-Ann KNIGHT and Shana-Kay TULLONGUE
It took a while for both teams to settle down in the first half as both teams were guilty of turnovers in midfield at the start of the game. Jamaica earned a few penalty corners but Bermuda’s goalkeeper Antoinette RABAIN made some good stops to deny her opponent’s a goal. In the 24th minute however, Jamaica’s Demi NICHOLSON took a quick self-pass in Bermuda’s 23m, slipped the ball to Trudy-Ann KNIGHT who scored a reverse stick goal to give her team a 1-0 lead, which held until half time.
Jamaica had most of the possession in the 2nd half and got their second goal when TULLONGUE eliminated three defenders in the circle and scored a reverse stick shot from a very acute angle. Jamaica survived a scare with 12 minutes to go when defender Chakira AIREY cleared a shot from Bermuda off the goal line. Jamaica had several opportunities in the closing stages of the second half to extend their lead but they were unable to capitalize on them.
