Cuba roared back from a 2 goal deficit to beat Trinidad and Tobago 3-2 in an exhilarating men’s match at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games to claim the lead in Pool A in the Men’s competition with 2 wins in 2 matches.
The game was keenly contested as both teams were fairly evenly matched but it was Trinidad’s Jordan REYNOS who opened the scoring for his team with a low drag flick shot from a penalty corner in the 14th minute. Shaquille DANIEL then scored a cracking reverse goal 4 minutes later to give Trinidad and Tobago a 2-0 lead at the half.
Cuba’s comeback started in the 58th minute when their most capped player Yandy BLANCO scored from a penalty stroke and then 1 minute later Alain BARADJI drew his team level 2-2. The momentum swung in Cuba’s favour and BLANCO scored the winning goal, a thunderous shot into top left corner, which could easily be a contender for the goal of the tournament.
Trinidad and Tobago end the day in third place in the table, behind Dominican Republic.
