URU-BRA X ODESUR Games – South American Championship - DAY 6
Bronze Medal was for Las Celestes
Uruguay and Brazil met today in the Bronze Medal definition. The team coached by Gonzalo Ferrer had suffered a defeat against Chile and needed to prove themselves that they deserved that medal. Brazil had been defeated by Las Leonas, the last world champions. Both teams were highly motivated to look for the best result and earn the third place in the final standing.
From the beginning, Uruguay took control of the game and created a lot of scoring chances but they all were ineffective. Brazil had a very good performance during the first minutes, but could not keep the possession of the ball and was constantly pressed by their opponent, but the goalkeeper played a great game, and they went to the halftime break with no goals scored.
During the second half, Matilde Kliche could finally open the scoreboard in favor of Las Celestes in the 55th
minute. Uruguay would get two more goals and close the match with a 3-0 score that Las Canarias were unable to turn back end left them out of the podium.
An overwhelming 3-0 score gave Uruguay the Bronze Medal, and left Brazil in the 4th place.
