W4 | Round-Robin | 1:00pm | BRA - GUY | 1 - 1 (1 - 1) | Final |
Brazil and Guyana played on day 2 as well. Following a red card yesterday, Brazil’s Tatiana NORONHA MACHADO was disqualified from playing in today’s match. Throughout much of the first half both teams fought for possession to attack. Brazil earned the first penalty corner of the match, but the hard shot was saved by Guyana’s keeper Alysa XAVIER. Brazil got on the scoreboard first in the 28th minute off a beautiful lifted penalty goal by Patricia BOOS. Guyana did not let up and Trisha WOODROFFE tied the score just before halftime. The score remained 1-1 at halftime.
The second half continued to be a fierce battle for possession. Play was mostly in Brazil’s attacking half. However, Guyana’s defended their attacking circle well and denied Brazil many opportunities. With neither team able to score another goal, the final score remained a 1-1 tie.

We faced better quality opposition for sure. Brazil is a strong team and played well together and that made the match more difficult for us.

Brazil’s Coach Eduardo RODRIGUEZ
On the match…
It was a good game for Brazil. The final score of 1-1 is a good result at a good level. We played well and did a good job. We were evenly matched. And we just have a couple of small things we want to fix.
Brazil’s Captain Djeniffer DOMBROWICZ VASQUES
I am happy with the level we played. We played well and did a good job. Guyana played well and pressured. We played to attack and open up space. Each time we are getting better and becoming a little bit more competitive.
