2008 South American Championship
Montevideo, Uruguay
March 29 to April 6

Paraguay - Argentina : 0 - 12
Venezuela - Uruguay : 0 - 9
Brazil - Chile : 0 - 1

Paraguay - Argentina : 0 - 12

Argentina keeps on devastating teams. This time it was Paraguay’s turn to receive 12 goals. Argentina’s players showed outstanding skill and good coordination, making the team speed even more dangerous. Their good use of short corners made it easy for forward players to score.

On the other hand, Paraguay’s willingness was not enough to achieve good results. Basically, the team wouldn’t go beyond the centre line because of Argentina’s forwards’ continuous and unstoppable attacks.

Venezuela - Uruguay : 0 - 9

The host’s national team goes on in the right track in its fight for the silver medal. Today it managed to overcome the nerves shown in its first game and succeeded to score, creating a nightmare for the Venezuelan goalkeeper, who saw the ball rush in 9 times.

Venezuela continues to show lack of international experience, still unable to perform well in the playing field. In spite of their efforts, there was little its players could do to cope with Uruguay’s pressing tactic.

Brazil - Chile : 0 - 1

This was the tightest and toughest match in this year’s tournament. Although Brazil played better than against Uruguay, it failed to score.

Chile looked better trained and managed to beat the Brazilians almost on the last minute, taking advantage of a short corner shot.
