Match Report

Cuba lead by a second half brace by Marisbel SIERRA overcame a 1-0 lead by Barbados to win their second game in Pool A at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games (Women) 3-1.

 

Barbados drew first blood in their final Pool A match in the 6th minute when Joanna Davis rifled a shot in the top left corner of the goal, to give her team a 1-0 lead. In an evenly contested first half, Cuba’s Taniuska PASO brought her team on level terms when she scored from a penalty corner at the stroke of half time to make it 1-1.

 

SIERRA ensured her team’s victory with two unanswered goals in the second half which were scored in the 49th and 54th minute. Her first goal came from a very well executed penalty corner while the second was a brilliant individual goal.

 

Barbados ended their pool play on three points. Cuba will play their final Pool A match against Mexico on 20 November 2014 at 9:30am.
