Jamaica won their first match of the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games (Men) when they beat Guatemala 3-1 in their 5-7 crossover match and will next face Dominican Republic in the 5^th/6^th place match on 24 November 2014 at 11:00 a.m.

Jamaica started the first half briskly and forced Guatemala’s goalkeeper Gabriel GUZMAN into making several saves in the opening 2 minutes of the match. Jamaica’s Kemar MITCHELL dictated the play from midfield as Jamaica stretched Guatemala’s defence but could not capitalize on their opportunities. Guatemala tried to hit Jamaica on the break with forward Leonidas LEIVA leading the line, but they found it hard to get past Jamaica’s defence.

Guatemala improved their build up play as the half progressed and Jamaica’s goalkeeper Kardiff DAVIDSON had to make some critical clearances for his team. Jamaica got the go ahead goal in the 31^st minutes when Gerald RICHARDS finished off a smart combination play in the circle to make it 1-0 at the end of the 1^st half.

Jamaica started strong in the second half but found it hard to get past goalkeeper GUZMAN despite creating several chances. Guatemala asked questions of Jamaica’s defence and goalkeeper DAVIDSON made some important saves but he could not stop Guatemala when Jorge RAMIREZ scored a penalty stroke in the 61^st minute. Jamaica then found an extra gear with Captain Kishawn WHITE and Kemar MITCHELL adding 2 goals in the 65^th and 69^th minute to close out the game 3-1.
